Neuroscience

How is the program for Neuroscience at Santa Cruz? I know the Biology department is good in general, but I haven't heard anything about neuroscience. Anyone taken some classes for this major? How are the professors/class sizes? Will the classes be challenging (good thing) ?

I’ve heard good things. I have a friend who was originally in chemistry, but switched to neuroscience. Better professors, more rewarding/challenging, funner labs, were all reasons she gave. Wish I could give you more than just a friend’s testimonial, but it seems like there just aren’t a whooole lot of people in the major.

Ohh i am interested in the Neuroscience major at UCSC too! But i am also looking at Bio. I wasn’t sure which major is better at UCSC. Hopefully someone can give us an answer!

Bump!! very interested in this as well! I am planning on majoring in neuroscience here as well!

I am a neuroscience major at UCSC. Its pretty much the same as an MCD Bio major…there are essentially only two required neuroscience classes in the major. Its very challenging, but its a good program…If you’re trying to decide between Bio and neuro, I wouldn’t stress too hard, because they are really similar.
