I just got accepted to UC Berkeley's Neuroscience program (as I've told my parents repeatedly, what the heck) and I wanted to know if anyone out there has any information regarding any related courses, research opportunities, and whatnot. Also, how does the neuroscience program at Cal compare to UC Davis's NPB major? I'm still trying to decide between the two universities, and it's just so hard to choose since both of them have something that I want. I'm also thinking about going into pre-med, and I heard that a lot of the science classes are really competitive/crowded at Berkeley which is something that I have to take into consideration as well. If anyone has any information, I will be very grateful! :)

Bump!!!

Many professors will offer internships/research if you ask. It is very easy to find such opportunities.

The neuroscience program is one of the best in the country, and you can apply for the UCSF/Cal joint program if you are qualified enough.

However, in line with its prestige, some classes are difficult and a little crowded, although most large classes have labs and discussions which consist of 20-40 people. Lower division classes are known as “weeder” classes due to their propensity to change the minds of those who want to major in pre-med. The most difficult weeder classes are widely believed to be Bio 1A, Chem 3B, and Math 1B.
