I am 2 years out of high school and now attending a community college. I feel that my college transcript is not enough for admissions to any college. Is it too late to take the SAT's? If so, what are my chances of getting into colleges with a good score on the SAT's and a good college transcript.

if you don't mind my asking, what's so terrible about your college work? what sorts of grades have you made? also where do you want to apply? i'm out of hs a year, going to CC in the fall and i plan on taking the SATs again. I got a terrible math score (well below 600). i'm pretty sure just about anyone can take the SATs. but you'd have to check at collegeboard.com or your counselor at school i dont think anyone can really say what your chances are unless you tell more about your stats and where you want to go.

My college work is not terrible, I am doing well with a 3.0 gpa. Its just that my college may not have the minimum requirements to the schools I want to tranfer to. I am planning on transferring to UC schools. So transferring into uc schools would be hard for me because my school is out of state and it would be hard to transfer all of my credits. So I am kind of relying the SAT's to help increase my chances tranferring into uc schools.

By UC do you mean University of California? If so, I don't think they consider SAT scores for any kind of transfer students.

yeah any california universties. what should i do to get in? i was thinking of starting all over and go to california community colleges and work my way into uc schools. But if there easiers ways. please share.

which UC do you want to go to ?

since your out of state, if you really want to go to a UC and you can afford to move here and go to a community college here, then by all means you can do that b/c it would actaully gurantee you admission to some of the UCs once you complete 60 units, and i am sure a lot of your current community college courses would transfer.

If you want to go to the higher UCs like Cal or LA, then your chances of being in a california CC greatly improve your chances of getting in then being out of state.

thanks for the input. I am thinking of going to ucla or uci. I am also thinking of going private like, usc. Going cc schools would help but what if I want to get in now. Would high SAT scores and transferring hs and college transcripts help?

I believe most private colleges do look at SAT scores and high school GPAs, but the UCs don't. A 3.0 GPA/out-of-state will give you very little chance at the top tier UCs, and the mid tier UCs would be though. Have you considered Riverside/Santa Cruz or some California State schools?

Malishka31 mentioned that some of the UCs have guaranteed transfer options from California Community Colleges, but the problem you'll run into is that there is a unit cap for students who haven't completed all of their units at Cal community colleges.

It's never too late to get back into college. However, if you're looking at going to a UC school, california residency is going to help you much more than high sats or gpa. The unfortunate news, residency takes 2 years (1 year for CCC instate tuition). USC might be a better option but that's a bit of a reach with your stats.

I'm 23, I dropped out of college my freshman year with a 1.9gpa (I kinda stopped going to classes). Spent a year to work and travel the world, then moved to California and then did the CCC thing, got my gpa back up to 3.82 with very little effort, and got into every UC I applied to with almost full financial aid. Berkley, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Irvine, and Santa Cruz. Not bad for a former college dropout and it was very easy to do.

to the above poster, im impressed keep working hard
