New Administration at Babson

What are people’s thoughts on the new administration at Babson? Former Romney Lt. Governor Kerry Healey’s selection as President this spring was controversial. I think her political packground was the main source of controversy. Now, this past week, former Romney Secretary of Economic Development was named as Babson’s COO. Any thoughts?

Dennis Hanno is remaining as Provost and Vice President. (He was the “people’s choice” for President.)

Everyone has been very opinionated lately about the changes in administration at Babson. Dennis Hanno has always been kind of a school hero so when he didn’t get the position for president many were worried that he would leave the school. His new position has definitely helped calm those concerns.
The new president was very surprising considering Babson is strictly a business school, but I have met her and she appears more than qualified for the job. It also helps that her husband was a partner at Goldman Sachs and has strong connections to the financial industry. One professor put it pretty well when he said that she will be perfect if she doesn’t try and dictate what the experience business faculty do. As long as the faculty are left to steer the business curriculum everything should be fine.
