New AP Credit Policy

Special Note:** Students entering in or after the of fall 2007 cannot use Advanced Placement courses to satisfy WFU divisional requirements. **However, AP credit will count towards the 120 hours needed for graduation.

Any potential deacons as upset as i am?

Y'all don't have nearly as many divisionals as we (class of 2006 and up) had to do...it's not that bad. I'm a rising senior and I'm just now finishing my last divisional...

I had good scores on 5 different APs and only got credit for 3 divisionals, so it only helped a little bit anyway...

It isn't that bad. I am a freshman now, and the guy above me is right, even though we can't use ap credit for divisionals, we have way fewer divisionals to take. It is good because it puts everyone on an even playing field a bit more. Don't think that your AP credit was all for nothing though. It will get you out of a lot for languages, writing seminars, and a lot of premed stuff (if that is what you want to do). AP credit will get prereq's out of the way for a lot of classes, making it easier in the long run to double major or to take more classes that interest you.

I'll one-up you Juba. I'm a second-semester senior, and I am finishing my divisionals this semester. That said, my divisionals have often been my favorite courses (and this semester is not an exception).

And this will sound strange, but even though AP credits did count for divisionals for my class, I'm not certain how many of us actually ended up using them to count. I am certain that none of my AP credits (over 20 hours of them) were used for divisionals in the end (except I did get credit for my writing seminar, but I would also have gotten credit based on my SAT score, though I'm not sure they do that anymore). I mean, the AP US History credit never counted for the history divisional, and then both of the Englishes only exempted you from the writing seminar and nothing else, and then the rest of my credits were maths and sciences, which are in the same divisional and because I'm pre-med, I've fulfilled that divisional five times over (at least).

Generally what happens to most people is that most of the AP credits people come in with are in areas in which they're looking to do further study, and so the AP credits are worthless except to place you higher when you enter school and to give you hours (which, again, in the end, are kind of worthless if you're taking a full course load every semester).
