New APUSH Exam Format -__-

What do emerging APUSH students feel about this?

<a href="http://media.collegeboard.com//digitalServices/pdf/ap/AP-USHistory-Open-Forum_2012.pdf?ep_mid=10560798&ep_rid=91134602%5B/url%5D">http://media.collegeboard.com//digitalServices/pdf/ap/AP-USHistory-Open-Forum_2012.pdf?ep_mid=10560798&ep_rid=91134602</a></p>

This is the new format and curriculum, Trevor packer, head of AP put it on his twitter feed.

They are changing the format for the 2013 exam.

MC section-30%- 36 questions, with 2-6 questions sets with 4 answer choices
DBQ-25%- 60 minutes
Long essay question-20%- 30 minutes
Short Answer question- 25%- 50 minutes

I do not agree with this change at all. They changed the format for the World History exam and the number of 4's and 5's went down. The 2-6 question sets also makes the exam seem like an SAT test :/ I think the format was fine.

Honestly this new format seems kind of stupid. More emphasis on the writing component.

OP, according to the powerpoint that you linked (page 13), the new exam won’t be administered until 2015.

Yay c: I take APUSH in 2014 , thank god MC is my specialty

@suzy100 oh  i didnt read the whole power point. thanks for spotting that. thank goodness for that. but i still dont like the proposed design

They want to stuff 400 years of history into only 36 multiple choice?! Also, what’s up with this “short answer” thing? People will just BS everything. This whole thing sounds stupid.

I’m good at MC and the topic areas that they’re changing to and more thinking over memorization is a plus to me. It’s nice to have broader themes like World History, but overall, I’d probably lose points to the larger amount of essays.

Honestly, I think colleges will stop accepting the exam if taken after the new format is issued.

It was American History Professors (college) who came up with/agreed upon this.

$$ wise, if professors didn’t want their institutions to give credit for the exam who’d take it? = CB out monies

Yikes… So glad I already took the APUSH exam. This sounds way too difficult.

On the surface it sounds exponentially more tedious, and dumb, but when I think about it, I realize the essays were MUCH easier than the multiple choice for me… So who knows, maybe it’ll be okay.
