I received a letter saying I am a Prudential Spirit of the Community Honoree for my town and won the President's Volunteer Service Award. Should I let JHU (and other schools) know of this? Or, it already being March, would it be too late?

If AdmissionsDaniel is able to address this, I'd go with what he suggests. Otherwise, a quick email to the admissions staff member for your geographical area would be fine. You may base your decision on how these awards fit with your overall application.
Congratulations on both awards!

I would strongly suggest that you let your area adm. member and the admissions office know of your awards - thru email atleast. It cant hurt at all. I had read a few years ago in a JHU engineering magazine the process of admissions and seems like there is a lot of discussion for the on-the-fence candidates around this time. Let them know that you continue to work hard and achieve things as a senior too.

A few years ago my son received a prestigious award in March and the HS guidance councellor emailed the admisssions officer for our area with the news. I know it was examined because JHU admissions responded to the email and congratulated my son.

i read somewhere that hey do not updates after march 1. i'm sure there are exceptions. no harm in updating.

Thanks guys! I sent an email to them and hopefully they'll accept it. There is no harm in trying.
