I've got a class right next to a stairwell on the fifth floor of New Cabell and a class right inside the lobby in the Chem Building. I'm a new transfer and don't know Grounds that well so I just walked around Clark and down McCormick to get to the Chem Building. My Cabell class let out a couple minutes past 12:50 and my next class in Chem is at 1:00. I made it a little late.

Is there a more direct route to take or do I have to push and jog my way to class? 10 minutes seems to be enough if I'm super speedy, but I've got short legs.

it sounds like you took the most direct route (past the ampitheater), you just can’t leave your first class late or you’ll be late to your second class.

Been there before. You have to jog on the road. For the Colonnade / Ampitheatre part, just look determined and people will get out of your way.

Used to have a class at Rouss, would ask the prof questions and then it would be 12:56 and I would run like mad to the Chem building and would make it 1:02. (If only there weren’t people in my way!)

According to Google Maps the distance between the far part of Cabell and the Chem Building is half a mile (as the student walks). That should set things in perspective.
