So what are my chances at these schools:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Dartmouth
Columbia
UPenn
Tufts
UChicago
Stanford
Brown
MIT
Bowdoin
NYU

Reach for the top 3, reach for Stanford, and MIT, but basically a decent to excellent shot at most of the rest. For some, like Brown and NYU, I think you’ve got a great chance.

I suggest taking that third SAT II, by the way.

It’s hard to see any of them rejecting you, and that’s saying a lot. You have one of the highest SAT scores of any African American student in the Country. You’re from an underrepresented state. You have good leadership.

methinks you’ll get into at least 10 of those 13 schools.

You are an African American male from New Hampshire with a better SAT score than most Caucasian applicants and you have a few good leadership positions.

The only ‘bad’ thing is your UW GPA, which is definitely low for a lot of these schools.
But you’ve got everything else possible going for you…

I agree that the UW GPA hurts your chances, but I maintain that you have very good chances everywhere. (75%+ at even the most selective schools.)

i think being a minority definitely helps XD there arent any schools up there that i would urge you NOT to apply to. i think harvard yale MIT and stanford (esp the last two) are going to be tougher, but you’re nearly guaranteed at places like tufts and bowdoin. 3.7 is a little bit low for the four top schools, which are going to be hard to reach, but your SAT score is impressive enough to make up for that…good luck!

You have a good shot, your SAT’s are really high, I got into MIT, Stanford, Columbia, UPenn etc. with SATs much lower than yours (710, 700, and 640…) and the rest of your stats seem good so far. good luck. But do remember that it’s not all about the grades or SATs, so be careful.
