NEW CORNELLIANS: Cornell video from theU.com (full)

All of you new incoming freshman should watch this. I agree with most of the video but not all of it. Some of the students who were interviewed are obnoxious. Make your own decisions about it. Cornell is the greatest school ever though so get excited about starting this August.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8nvbq9_c_wo

also, some of the info is wrong such as:
- housing is guaranteed BOTH freshman and sophomore year
- a meal plan is required for freshman I'm pretty sure
- they show kennedy and roberts hall when they mention residence halls even though they're academic buildings
- about 1/3 of ppl are involved in greek life
- the townies aren't THAT weird

very niiiice

why on earth did they have to come to campus when the trees are looking their worst - there's like a 2 week window when there's no snow but no leaves or buds and the campus tends to look gray and dry.

I loved the video before I went visited Cornell.

Now that I went, I think it makes Cornell look WORSE than it actually does. It makes it look really boring and plain. It is WAYYY more beautiful than it looks in the video and a hell of a lot more fun.

The parties were great, the food was great, the teachers were great and I can't wait.

hey, in the video they said both englihs and math is required. I thought the only thing required was two writing seminars? So...anybody who goes there know? Thakns!

Yeah, I think they are refering to FWS. Either one or two semesters depending on the school that you go to. There are also other requirements like PE, a swim test, and other requirements that are specific to your college.

i hope thats a realistic view of cornell. if it is, im a lot happier going!

most sexually active college...lol

Yeah. The video doesn't do Cornell justice. They make the place to be filled with smart people who party like they are at Arizona State.

Now granted, there are a lot of smart people at Cornell who party like they are at Arizona State, but they make up no more than a third of the undergraduate body. The rest of the student body is more like the kids at CMU, or Swarthmore, or Berkeley, or Amherst.

And would it really have killed the kids who were interviewed to not mention the fact that they are at an 'Ivy League' school in every other breath? Unless they are athletes, it doesn't affect their experience significantly.

"Most Sexually Active Ivy League"

....jaws drop*

oh boy...i cant wait for this fall's ED....
