New crisis

Two classes that I thought I had dropped online, through the colleges website, were never dropped. They are on my record and now will be considered "W's". I tried to fight with the school about it and they said they couldnt do anything. I have left a message with the Dean as my last resort. Still waiting to hear back from her.

So I updated my application and put the 2 "W's" on there for spring semester. What do you guys think? Negative impact or no impact? Oh and i tried to explain what happened in the comments box.

I've frequently heard, and was actually quite shocked when I heard it, that even having a good handful (or two) of W's won't negatively impact your chances...let alone the two you now have. And good call on explaining it in the comments box. From the UC admissions officers and alumni who score applications I have met, they are normal everyday people and are very reasonable.

So to answer your question...no impact.

there was a thread on how much W's really affect your chances a while back. in short, there were people with 6 or 7+ and still got into Berkeley and UCLA.

I just wanted to make it clear that these 2 w's are for this semester, spring 2008. So when updating the application I have 17 units in progress and 6 units that I withdrew from. I was thinking that it looks kind of bad that it shows I have already withdrawn from two classes. But like I said, I tried to explain it as best I could within the 250 word limit in the additional comments box.

Even without the explanation the "W" grade would be okay. For the UC System a "W" grade only tells us that the course was not completed and during evaluation no credit can be given for the course.

Thanks UCD, that is good to know.
