New Dorms.

I just got accpted to UMich the other day. I was wondering if Michigan has new dorms. I think I read a while back that if you want to get them, you have to send in your deposit by March 1. That may have been another school and I may be getting confused, so if anyone here knows what I'm talking about, please give me more information.

No dorms have been built since 1968. Construction for North Quad is going to start this winter but it won't be done until 2010.

Thank you. Do you know the best or nicest dorms to be at btw?

idolfan that depends on ur major....engineering or lsa?

engineering brotha

nicest dorms? i think they're all equally bad in my opinion, unless you're a girl and you get to live in martha cook.

Why do you have to send in your deposit by March 1?

One of the dorms on the Hill, Mosher Jordan, was closed last spring and is undergoing an extensive renovation. It will be one of the nicest options when it reopens Fall '08. This link also gives information about the other residence halls: http://www.housing.umich.edu/residencehalls/index.php?hall=mojo&hallname=Mosher-Jordan%20Hall

I got into LSA

You'll probably want to preference Central/Hill since that's the most convenient for LS&A students. Current students can confirm, but I don't think you can specify particular dorms. If you want Central v. North Campus, you could request all-female housing (if you're a girl), or to be housed with the Honors College or Residential College students if those options apply to you.

Haha, yes I'm a girl and will most likely attend as a freshman next year.

Well, I know that all-female housing doesn't sound appealing to most girls, but it will assure you a spot on Central Campus. I can tell you from experience that, as a freshman, I was randomly assigned by the U to Stockwell Hall on the Hill and thought I would hate it. It actually turned out to be a decent experience so consider that option if location is important to you.

Bursley dorm, on North campus, probably one of the nicer dorms for now. You will find out, whether you live on North Campus or the hIll...you'll love it and there will be a lot of freshman on both!

Bursley and South Quad are the nicest, but in terms of the total college experience, it's Markley.
