I read online that Tulane was going to get a new dining hall, and there were going to be some changes done overall to the campus. Does anyone know when these changes are supposed to be finished?
There are new buildings/renovations being done all the time. Just very recently there is the new dorm, Greenbaum, significant renovations and upgrades to Dinwiddie and Richardson Memorial (architecture), a highly significant change involving the space from McAlister to Newcomb Hall that closed off the only street besides Freret that ran through campus and created a great plaza area, the new science building Flower Hall, and the addition of two floors to the top of the main library. Also the School of Social Work was moved to the downtown campus area in a renovated classic building. I am sure I am leaving out some recent major projects.
So it appears that next on the list is to renovate the Uptown (main campus) building that used to house social work and make it into an integrated “success center”, where every facet of a student’s needs for success from tutoring to time management to general advising to internship/career assistance and placement will be under one roof. A Tulane alum donated $5 million towards this. http://tulane.edu/news/releases/tulane-alumnus-gives-millions-for-student-success.cfm At the same time, the business school is getting a $35 million addition. http://tulane.edu/news/releases/the-a-b-freeman-school-of-business-at-tulane-university-announces-major-expansion.cfm My guess, and that is all it is, is that the funds for the dining hall were diverted to this project because of immediacy of need. My understanding is that the dining hall project will get started sometime in 2017, but I don’t know if that will be early 2017 or later in the year. I also don’t know time to completion.
