bc_csyaa,
I had a little over 3.5 at a top LAC. GREs were 740 V, 700 Q, 6 AW, though i doubt they care too much about these for Asian Studies. I was an anthro major undergrad, but didn't study chinese at all. I ahve been living in Beijing for the last two years, however, teaching english and working for an NGO when i first got out here, but now working at a magazine that reports on Asian media, for the last year. As long as you meet sort of acceptable academic cutoffs, i think EAS programs are all about how you sell yourself.

Me: Major: Poli Sci Minor: Econ, (coursework was highly centered on int'l affairs) GPA=3.4, GRE=640Q/670V/5.5AWR.
1.5 years working in trade policy in DC.
Studying Arabic in Syria since 6/07 - Present (8/08 expected)

Georgetown Master's Foreign Service: waiting (unlikely)
Johns Hopkins SAIS: waiting (unlikely)
Tufts Fletcher: waiting (hoping)
Columbia SIPA: waiting (no idea)
George Washington Elliott: waiting (optimistic)

Does anyone know when Elliott posts admissions decisions? I know Fletcher will towards the end of March. I'm assuming the rest of these schools post/email decisions around the end of March as well, correct?

I will edit the above as results come in.

From what I've been able to gather...Columbia seems to release decisions in early to mid-March. Tufts/Johns Hopkins/Georgetown are all mid-March, and GW looks to be the latest around late March. Of course this all varies, but that seems to be the time most ppl have gotten decisions the last few years.

Last year, I was notified by most of my IR schools in very late February/early March. Fletcher notified me in late March (I was wait-listed so that's probably why).

The longer it takes, the more they're debating whether to accept you or not, over someone else.

Hey BuffyAngel, could you post or PM your stats? I'll be applying for Fall 09 Masters in MechE as well. Also, do you plan on doing a thesis? Thanks!

guy--

Here are my stats

I will most likely be doing a thesis because the programs that offer funding require one. Let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks BuffyAngel!

Finally some resolution to the long, painful wait!
