Does anyone have any specific information about the changes to the general ed course requirements that are starting in the fall. Specifically, I'm looking to find out how the business majors are changing, hopefully making it more flexible for minors or double majors. We would like to get the specifics before May 1st decision day. When we asked during the tour we only got very generic responses. Can't find anything specific on the web site either.

My son and I are visiting on Thursday (4/22) and will be discussing this with an advisor and admissions. I’ll post what we find out once I get that info.

The major change in the General Ed requirements are reduction from 3 to 2 courses required for both Theology and Philosophy. Also, students must take some type of a “diversity” course. In reality, it is supposed to make things easier for someone to do a minor. The student my son shadowed indicated that what she had done would be easier to do now because of the reduced GER. There is also supposed to be some type of 1st year seminar program for all incoming freshmen.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the update. It sounds like these changes will be very positive for the future students. My DD has sent in a deposit and is very excited about getting to the final decision.

My son will be sending in his deposit this week. He has joined a facebook group of St. Joe’s students and has been e-mailing the students he shadowed for more person input. He is definitely excited - and we are all relieved that this part is over!
