New guy- Georgetown n SATs?

Hey guys. my SATs are a bit low (1300) n i want to apply to SFS. I know that the competition is tough but does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve this? Are they really that important? If the rest off my app. is really good will the committee look past these scores and consider me?

Thanks a lot.

IMO, the most important factors are your Grades/Class Rank, and also your essays. I think it's too late for you to increase your SAT score (the Jan test is the last they accept, I believe) but really showcase your strongpoints elsewhere in the application and you'll have a fine chance. They can absolutely look past a 1300 (which isn't bad, by the way).

You said you were a junior on the other thread, so it's not too late.

I think SATs are fairly important, and 1300 is a bit of a strike against you. But luckily (or not) for you, that 1300 isn't what Georgetown will be looking at because you'll get to take the new SATs. Get a Princeton Review book for like $20 and use it...I think they help a lot. My friend had one that I looked at five minutes before the test, and most of the vocab in the book was on the test..(Unfortunately, for me, I just remembered seeing the word in the book and not the definition).
