New guy here and UNCG vs UF

Hey everyone! I am new to this site! Let me give a brief introduction. I am 21 years old, gun enthusiast, nerd, and I am from Charlotte, NC. I am currently a student at a community college working at an AA (graduating this spring). I recently got diagnosed with Celiac Disease and this year I have gone from being a traditional student to fully online (my intestines arent what they were and I just am too sick at the moment to go to traditional classes). My question is, I have searched like crazy and my classes have been psychology and sociology classes because I want to eventually go to Grad school for counseling because I have dealt with anxiety and all of that stuff and want to help others, which college would you guys recommend? I will be totally blunt, my first year I have a 3.9 and now after being fully online I am down to a 3.2 and I think the best I could get it to is a 3.4. I didnt take the ACT or SAT because I have a GED (thanks to my lovely intestines, again). I made a 99% on one of my GED tests and a 98%, and the others were in the 80’s, though I dont think they use those for decisions for transfer students, do they? I honestly dont think I have anything going for me to get accepted into the UF Psychology department online, but what do you guys think? Be brutal, I can take it and I like straight forward answers lol, but I have faith in UNCG, but UNCG doesnt have psychology available online, exactly. The recruiter there recommends “Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Psychology”. Im rambling though. Thanks :)!

You would be OOS for UF. How would you pay for that?

That’s the question I’m asking myself too. I mean I literally have avoided ANY debt working and just going to a cheap community college, but with the pickle I am in…

Here’s a link to UF Online’s BA in Psychology. It includes transfer requirements.

Did you talk with an UF Online recruiter? I would think a 3.2 GPA is competitive. It’s much more competitive transferring to campus, based on the limit on slots that are available. UF online also has enrollment targets set by the state, that it’s not currently meeting, so if you have the grades/classes, I’m sure they would accept you into the program.

For OOS students it’s pricey, at $550+ per credit hour (about $16,500 a year in tuition and fees), but that is much cheaper than UF’s on-campus OOS rate of $950+ a credit hour.

Good Luck and Get Better!

I think in an ACA class(it’s a required class in NC for transfer students that shows them the ropes about four year institutions and beyond) and I could’ve sworn there was a thing…Sreb?..something pertaining to south east education where you can qualify for in state tuition out of state if there isn’t an in state that offers your desired major. However, there are technically in states that offer my major, just not online, so I think thatd disqualify my there :\ Thanks!

I don’t think it applies if it’s just online.

I’m not certain either. My guess is that it wouldnt, but it’s worth a shot.
