Anyone care to chance a musician from Minnesota?

Thank you so much!

White, male 09er from Minnesota

Academics and Such
[ul][]GPA: 4.00 UW, 4.215 W
[]Rank: Top 10% (That’s as specific as my school gets)
[]SAT: 800 CR, 790 W, 780 M; 2370 total
[]SAT II: 800 US History; Taking Literature and Biology-M in June
[]AP: 5 US History, Biology--We’ll see this summer!
[]Next year, I’ll take the AP Physics C exam and the IB History HL, IB Math HL, IB English A1 HL, and IB French SL exams[/ul]

Courseload/color:
[ul][]Freshman Year: Honors English, Honors Am. Hist. (required), Honors Physical Science, Honors Higher Algebra, Varsity Men’s Choir, Honors French 1
[]Sophomore Year: Honors English, AP US History, Honors Chemistry, Honors Pre-Calculus, Concert Choir (one of two sophomores), Honors French 2
[]Junior Year: IB English HL, IB Euro HL, AP Biology, IB Math HL, Concert Choir, Honors French 3
[]Projected Senior Year: IB English HL, IB Euro HL, AP Physics C, IB Math HL, Concert Choir, IB French SL

[li]Short Courseload Explanation: My reason for not pursuing the full International Baccalaureate Diploma (which was totally feasible as far as my abilities) was choir. At my school, music and International [/li]Baccalaureate do not mix...and as such I had to choose between the full diploma and choir--you can see what I chose! As for why I didn’t take IB Science, I couldn’t have taken BOTH Physics and Biology at the HL level, only SL--so I went with AP, which is on par with HL! My counselor will check the "most rigorous available" box.[/ul]

[color=green]Extra-Curriculars:
[ul][]Choir: Bass Section Leader, Chamber Singers (a capella group), Men’s Quartet, volunteer weekly to sing/lead a church service; (ALSO: accepted at, but will not attend the Minnesota All-State choir due to another summer commitment: see below)

[]Violin: Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies/private lessons--I’ve been playing since age 5
[]Running: Did cross-country running my freshman year, but due to Theater conflicts, haven't been able to run with the school team since then. Instead, last year I trained with my family and successfully ran the Twin Cities Marathon in the Fall (2007).
[]NHS: 2 year, member...yeah...service and such
[]Senior Leadership Program: Helping the transition between middle school and high school for freshmen...[/ul]

*Summers: *

[]Ranked nationally three years in a row on the National French Exam
[]2 scores of “Superior” (highest score) at Minnesota High Schools Solo Contest--for voice

Bump!

Yay Minnesota! =) With your great grades and scores, I think you've got just as good a chance as anyone at many of the listed schools! It is clear you've got a strong interest in music, which is always good! Good luck!

Thank you! Anyone else?

Bump? 10char

Double bump?

Please? Anyone?

looking good, great chances. The ivies of course are reaches for almost everybody, but you definitely have a shot. For U of Chicago, make sure you turn in awesome essays. You are almost sure of being NMSF/NMF with that score in MN, and that college list might expand with other opportunities that will be thrown your way. Get ready for that barrage of NMSF-related mail. good luck disney.

Send in a recording. Princeton does pay attention to them. You are in good shape. Just don't go cliche "I LOVE SINGING" on your essays.

Thank you for the advice!
