New IU Scholarships

As the parent of an OSS, I can say it IS difficult to swallow the big increases each year. His small grants do NOT go up to cover the increases, and $2000 more a year means a lot more overtime for us to work. There were other colleges that accepted him that would have upped his grants to keep pace with tuition increases, I think, and which actually met need, which IU definitely does NOT do. However, IU had the music program he thought was best for him, so we do what we can do, and he takes out loans. I must say we are counting the semesters until he graduates! (Just three to go!!!)

IU's admit rate, if I remember correctly, is 70-80%. No horrid worries like admit rates of 9%. I applied in late August and received admission in late October. The scholarships are easy to get because it is a state school. Hutton Honors College applications are due approx. 3-4 weeks after you receive admission.
