New Jersey 2017 NMSF Cutoff Predictions

Trying to get a sense of scoring for those from New Jersey to determine whether the cutoff will change from the 225 last year for the class of 2016.

Have a DD who scored 215 in October 2014 (78 CR, 69 Writing, 68 Math) and then 1440/219 in October 2015 (37 Reading, 38 writing, 34.5 Math)

Are people seeing same improvement even with fewer points possible, 228 vs 240?

I winged it completely last year and got 196 (68 CR, 65 M, 63 W). This year I got 1470/221 (38 CR, 36 W, 36.5 M). For reference I also took an ACT about a month earlier and scored 34. I didn’t find the test any easier this year, walking out I thought I had bombed it completely. Last years 225 supposedly translates to a 211-215 this year, according to some estimates

I’m from New Jersey! I got a 200 as a sophomore (don’t remember the breakdown, but math was the lowest score by ~10 points or so) and this year I got a 1470/221 SI (37 CR, 37 W, 36.5 M). I’ve heard people speculating that an SI of 220+ should be good for all states, but somehow I feel like the cutoff for NJ might be higher. That’s just based off of intuition and the fact that I didn’t think I had a realistic shot at being a NMSF, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t study for the PSAT either year, so it could be that the test was easier and thus the cutoffs will be higher. However, the extent of my studying for the SAT consisted of taking two practice tests, and I got a 2250 (compared to a 1930 as a freshman,) so it could just be that I happened to improve my test taking skills and ended up with a higher PSAT score as a result.

I have no idea how people in my grade did, so I can’t get a feel for the range of scores.
