Wondering if any current Barnard students can elaborate on the impact the demolition of Lehman hall / the construction of the new library has on the campus experience. I’m a prospective student, and I’m attending the Summer In the City precollege program, and I’m somewhat dissapointed that I won’t get the full experience of the usually beautiful campus - as construction is occuring until summer 2018! Anyone currently on campus, is the construction disruptive, seeing as the campus is already so compact? Will it be a loss to my experience this summer/ my first year if I decide to attend (And I hopefully will)?
Virtually none. The aesthetics haven’t been affected and you don’t really notice it. The library collection has be relocated to Butler. Mind you, Barnard is in NYC so the campus is never ‘tranquil’. Barnard isn’t Smith.
My d is a current freshman and her dorm window looks out onto the quad and library- she hasn’t felt that it has been a problem at all.
