I lmade a list to be chanced earlier and got some great feedback, enough that I've changed my list of schools quite a bit... Can anyone give me an idea of how I would do with these schools?

4.0 GPA (weighted out of 6) 3ish UW (i'd say anywhere between 2.8 and 3.2 unweighted...low)
SATs: 800 Math
740 CR
650 Writing

Good recs, essay, football captain/ singer w/ 8 musical leads on resume.

Holy Cross
Colgate
Lafayette
CUNY honors (out of state)
McGill
Clark
Connecticut College
TCNJ

could I apply to those and maybe a couple of SUNYs/Marist as safeties and be safe that I'd be accepted somewhere? thanks

please be as honest as you can... I have to know all the schools I'll be applying to very soon, just because I have a packed schedule next year and need to do visits/interviews/etc. now! If it helps, I will have taken 5 APs by the time I graduate, and I've done debate/speech for 3 (going on 4) yrs. Thanks

Your SATs are pretty damn good, and will help counterbalance your lower GPA. You are a football captain AND a drama geek. Interesting combination. Although I am only a junior myself, I would say that you have a decent shot at any of these schools. Go for it.

Yes, unweighted is out of 4
Thank god someone finally gave negative feedback... In my situation would you feel secure applying to just those schools? (not including the safeties mentioned below)

Please also do you think you could give spec. schools you think are in and out? maybe rank some as match, reach safety if possible? and if you have any kind of credentials, or just reasons why you'd be a credible source tha'd be sick
peace
if any of u has a chance thread or anything let me know so i can help you out

Go ahead and visit all the schools on the list (if you have the time and money, that is). They all seem like solid matches with the exceptions of McGill and Colgate. CUNY you are in, honors idk.

bump
could anyone give specific "safety" "Reach" or "match" for each? also don't forget to let me know if u have a chance thread or nething I wanna help out if i can.

the problem that happens with a great SAT score and a low GPA is that sometimes you can come off as "lazy" to the admissions board. they will obviously see that you are very smart with those scores but will wonder why you didn't achieve the same level in your classes. interview if you can to adress this and also maybe talk about this in your essays.

oh and by the way I think that you still have a good shot at most of those schools. The only ones I see as being a bit of a reach is Colgate and Lehigh. I dont know enough about Canadian schools. I do know that for Canadians, they only look at your GPA, but maybe different for Internationals.

I've heard McGill puts a lot of value on SATs for internationals., not sure though. and according to naviance a kid from my school got in with a 4 weighted GPA, which isn't very high, and their SAT was only like 1350. Also Lehigh puts VERY little weight on GPA and/or class rank according to collegeboard.com

lol sorry are you from nj? the reason i mentioned that about cuny honors is because they like to make their program seem very appealing having OOS students as well. there are plenty of people from nj who attend also so thats why i said being from there probably won't help your application but it also won't hurt it either.
