New member!!! Chance me please?????

Based on your scores, some of the ivies may be reaches- but then again they’re reaches for just about everyone! Your extensive extracurriculars make you a strong candidate, especially since they’re very focused. It also looks like you’re taking advantage of the highest courses possible, which is great! Best of luck!

SO MANY EC’s. I am so jealous

-Harvard- I think you have a really good shot, as long as your pending SAT II’s are close to 800. And it’d be even better if you applied ED
-Brown- Reach
-Cornell- Low reach (easiest Ivy to get into)
-Dartmouth- Reach
-Johns Hopkins- Match
-Northwestern- High Math
-Rice- Match
-UC Berkeley- Match
-UCLA- High Match
-UChicago- Match
-UMichigan- Match
-University of Missouri-Columbia- Safety
-University of Missouri Kansas City- 6 year MD program- honestly have no idea. sorry!
-UPenn- Low reach
-USC- Match
-Washu- Safety

Thanks! .

Fantastic Extra-Curriculars. However, if I were you I would actually narrow that list and get rid of some things that you weren’t too involved in, such as the Students Against Destructive Decisions, or Science Olympiad, which you were only on for a year.

From what I’ve heard, including these kinds of ECs when your list is so extensive already just makes it look like you are padding it with whatever you can.

Onto the actual chances now though. For all the schools you’re applying to, Academics is really the way that they weed out the initial applicants.

Your GPA is good, but it might be hard to judge what the schools will think unless you tell us which classes you actually took BEFORE senior year.

The real problem I think lies with the standardized test scores

For schools like Harvard, Brown, JHU, NU, Dartmouth and Uchicago, an ACT of 32 will put you below the 50th percentile of accepted students, and will leave you almost with no chance at the PLME and HPME programs. Yes, the extracurriculars will look good to them, but remember that the two major things they take into consideration first are academic and standardized testing performance.

It is also extremely hard to predict acceptance into any school that requires 2 or more SAT II tests, simply because you don’t have them yet.

However, I will say that you have fantastic chances at Michigan and the 2 Missouris, and a fairly decent chance at USC, because your GPA and ACT along with the extracurriculars should give you a significant boost in their eyes.

Thanks for the info. I probably won’t include my insignificant ECs on my application, like you said. As far as classes go, I don’t want to list them online, but I took the hardest courseload possible given the context of my school (this is reflected in my rank). Essentially, my school is on the “honors” system for classes, rather than AP or IB.

Finally, I know that my test scores are the weaker part of my application, and that’s my main focus right now. I’m retaking the ACT next weekend, and I’ve been improving. I got a 35 on my most recent practice test (from the redbook). While I know that practice tests can often offer varying results from the actual test, I am confident that I will improve the ACT to at least a 34. The situation is similar with the SAT2. I’ve decided to take Bio-m, math2, and math1 in October, and am practicing for them. Additionally, I am no longer applying to HPME.

So, overall, my fate rests a lot in my standardized test scores. I will probably post a new chance thread in 3-4 weeks with updated scores, so that chancers can get a better perspective of my app.

Thanks again for all the advice!

You have great EC’s and you definitely have good chances with these schools:
UChicago
-UMichigan
-University of Missouri-Columbia
-University of Missouri Kansas City- 6 year MD program
-USC
-Washu- Med scholars and regular admissions
UC’s are a little different since your not a Californian citizen, but I don’t know much about out of state apps. The other schools are all about luck!!! So I hope you get REALLY lucky although based on your stats, you really dont need much  Good Luck this year
