Hi i have a few questions after doing much research.
1. is WVU a good P.E. university? how are their interships and job offers after grad?

I plan to go to a junior college in nevada then transfer to WVU as a junior. are interships even possible as a new student and as already being a upper classman (junior)

From my research i have found production engineers do the least traveling of the three and typical have the 5-9 office jobs. is this true? do they have to tavel at all? It would be best if i didnt have to travel for the first 10-15 years.

would i be able to switch from a production engineer to a drill or resiviore latter on?( 15 years) which would mean i could then travel and go to offshore etc.?

WVU is perfectly fine undergraduate school… probably not the best, but certainly not the worst. You should call their career center and they will be able to answer all your internship and job questions.

Yes, though without having an internship between your sophomore and junior year, you will have to work extra hard. How long will you take to graduate upon transferring to WVU?

I’d say reservoir engineers travel even less than production engineers. You can always choose not to travel, but it undoubtedly will have an effect on your career.

Sure.

okay thank you. and I plan to do two years in nevada and finish off two more at WVU for a bachlors. for my career, ill just get paid less if I dont travel right? but I hear that is still good money

It’s not really even about getting paid less, though that could be a part of it. If you aren’t willing to travel, you are probably going to lose out on promotions, high visibility projects and training opportunities.

If I’m choosing between two candidates for a job, one candidate goes where he needs to go and the other refuses to travel… I’m going to pick the first guy. Don’t think of it in terms of money, think of it in terms of career limiting.

yeah you do have a good point. so say if Im limited to travel a few times a yea (1-3) times how would they consider me as, not moving up, medicore, etc?

Hi CarrerNoob101 I can tell you for a fact that if you dont want to travel your chances drop by 80%. If your a vet or at least have 3-5+ years exp then you can command your roles, but as a noob you take what you can get.

alright, ill mostly travel a bit here and there. but would it hurt by doing internships my jr year rather than sophmore?
