Everywhere I've looked at has said that the two new colleges (McMurthy and Duncan) will be ready in fall of '09.

Does that mean that the high school seniors of '09 will be able to live in the new colleges freshman year, or that they still won't be livable until 2010?

Not that it really matters, but if by some miracle I make it into Rice I think it would be awesome to be able to help start traditions for the new colleges. That is, unless they get the "not a college" status, haha.

Oh and on that note, I've also read that Rice is planning a 30% increase in the undergrad population. So hopefully that means that they will admit more freshman for the 09-10 year...right?

I am a student at Rice, and although the two new colleges will have completed construction by 2009, they will not have a freshman class living in them that year. The two oldest colleges on campus, Will Rice and Baker will be undergoing renovation and consequently their residents will temporarily reside in Duncan and McMurtry for that one year. I think maybe in 2010 is when they will start assigning freshmen to those colleges.

I think it's awesome that Rice is adding the two new colleges, I absolutely love the whole college system idea. One of my main draws towards Rice, after the academics &being in Texas of course :]

Well, I guess I shouldn't even be thinking about residential colleges yet. I haven't even applied to the school. For some reason I am always one step ahead of myself, which lends to a lot more trips and falls. Haha.
