New SAT Essay - Using the Rhetorical Triangle as Evidence

Hi Everyone,

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the following. Most of the places that I’ve looked recommend putting three points in your thesis for the New SAT essay. The rhetorical triangle has three elements - logos, ethos, and pathos - and thus looks to be a perfect fit for such an essay. However, I have some reservations. Would the author’s use of the rhetorical triangle count only as one such point, or would it be valid for three?

They’re perfectly acceptable, but not all passages will have pertinent instances of all three rhetorical modes, so I’d strongly advise against prepping them as a “one-size-fits-all” approach. @AlexFW19
