Is it still possible to prepare beforehand (like you could with the old essay) with 3-4 points already in mind?
I’m thinking of using ethos-pathos-logos or some version of that when writing the essay…is this possible?
Are the any other good resources for prepping besides the 4 practice tests that CB released?
Also, any other tips on writing the essay would be greatly appreciated…thanks!

It’s a different style of essay (and quite stupid, IMHO). Read the instructions in the official practice test. Then, you need to study persuasive techniques used in an editorial/opinion articles. Once you have those persuasive terms down, all you will have to do is use them to show how the author of the article persuaded his/her audience.
It’s basically the AP Lang rhetorical analysis essay with a much, much simpler passage and a prompt that hands you the thesis on a platter. If you know a bunch of rhetorical devices, you should be able to find 3-4 of them and write about them. The “logos/ethos/pathos” approach is dumb, imo, and unlikely to yield top scores, especially since not all passages will meaningfully engage in all three of those rhetorical modes.
Marvin, as is often the case, said it better than I did!!!
