So I’m class 2017 and I studied the old SAT and I can already tell u that I’m pretty off about it. I hate the long words and finding the mistakes in sentences on the writing section. Although, I find the new SAT much easier considering I like reading and I find it much easier to find errors in a passage then in just one sentence. Also, since geometry has a big part of the old SAT math I find it very hard considering I hate geometry but I’m good at algebra. So should I just take the new SAT

I’m in class of 2017 too, and I’m thinking of doing both. I’m gonna do the old SAT in November just because I’m more comfortable with the format, and there is so much prep material out there. I don’t wanna wait until spring of junior year to take my first SAT, because then if I wanna retake, I’ll have to spend junior summer studying and then take it senior year, and by that time many students start applying to colleges- it’s all a hassle in my opinion. I want my junior summer and senior year to be free of SAT prep. Thus, I’m gonna do the old one in November, perhaps retake in January, and then if my score still isn’t good enough, I’ll do the new one.
I’m with @WHSTrojan – I’m class of 2017 and going to take it this November or December, see how it goes, and then decide from there whether to take the new one. If you skip the old one, you won’t be able to go back, but if you take it, the option to do the new one as well is still open.
