I’m extremely conflicted over whether I should take the new sat vs the old sat. I haven’t prepped for the old sat at all and judging by the PSAT I took last October, I really do not like the difficult vocabulary on the old version. I’ve begun test prep for the new sat with Khan Academy and I just took a practice test today, receiving a pretty decent score considering I have had no prior preparation. I know there’s a lot of test prep already out there for the old sat, but I’m worried that if I don’t do well on it in January, then I’m at a disadvantage for senior year because I have to start prepping for an entirely new test. Anyone have some advice that will help decide?
I’m in the class of 2017 and I decided I’d take the old SAT since I started preparing in 10th grade (also I just want to get it over with to be honest) You have to keep in mind that the easier the test is, the more people that will do better - making your chances worse (or stay the same, if you see what im getting at)
If you’re determined to study lots in a shorter amount of time - then take the old SAT.
If you’re willing to study lots in a longer amount of time - then I’d say stick with the new SAT
Judging by your post, I recommend you take the new SAT - but don’t quote me on that.
I encouraged my D to take the new primarily for the NMSQT. If she doesn’t make NMSF then she will switch to prepping for the ACT.
