Write an essay in which you explain how Jimmy Carter builds an argument to persuade his audience that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge should not be developed for industry. In your essay, analyze how Carter uses one or more of the features listed in the box above (or features of your own choice) to strengthen the logic and persuasiveness of his argument.
Start:
Jimmy Carter neutrally shows his perspective on whether Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or ANWR should not be developed for industry throughout his passages. He starts a sentence as a position: last to describe ANWR missing the phrase “at last, but not least.” This implies that he doesn’t show his readiness engaging viewer to his objective. Furthermore he brings details, then, advances his counter-point in bodies of passages. It is used for “last” or the adjective phrase used to describe his ANWR.
He used transcendentalism, which is a naturally occurring phenomena - “where polar bears and caribou gave birth” describe coastal plain instead where he could’ve switched the two ideas - last and nature - by stating nature first then using last as second. Here lies a literature technique snowballing a statement that ANWR is perhaps a negative organization destroying all habitats or at least hints an idea to all readers. Moreover, not one but he gives and fills his passages of nine by extending this notion -nature and/or transcendentalism.
Thirdly, but not last or least, he uses the word" must" which is a very strong word as obligation to opinionate and combine reader’s with his opinion that “what’s really at stake” conflicting the idea that short-term economic gain is NOT at the focus to his notion - by this point of reading in chronological order, anyone can figure out that ANWR does not have long-term positive effect in Jimmy Carter’s calendar for the protection of nature and polar bears themselves, so it “must” be placed at “stake.”
He does NOT favor, but by no means last, and least - he does not love formation of ANWR on nature because overall, it does not have positive effect. By duplicating without implementing any of Jimmy Carter’s statements, there exists a superior conclusion, it should be deformation or potentially halted- ANWR.
End:
