Hey what do you guys think a new sat score would have to be in order to go to the Ivies?

Well, if we use the 3x/2 rule, it comes out at 2400. ;)

I'd say in the 2200-2400 range, with leeway, of course.

Is a 2500 good enough (equivalent of 1500)?

Equivalent of 1500 would be a 2250; I think that's what you're trying to say. 750, 750, 750 - should be good enough.

MIT says 680+ for each section, but I'd say you'd need at least a 730 to be considered without a little doubt being cast your way. Then, MIT is not technically an Ivie.

2250 definitely.

But if there was somebody with say a 2180 (about 1450) would that put down your chances significantly?

I really don't think it would, 1450 is probably around top 30% or so at most Ivies. If you saw someone with a 720 in each section, those sat scores would definitely not jeopardize their chances. I think high 2100's is a solid score

Hey david218 what did you use to study for the PSATs?

PSATs? I didn't study for those, went in cold, maybe not the best idea in retrospect, but I don't think good PSAT scores have many tangible results in terms of admission. Why do you ask?

But if there was somebody with say a 2180 (about 1450) would that put down your chances significantly?

WOW....and i dont mean world of warcraft....that game is f***ed up

sr6622,

a 2500 is impossible because the max is 2400

anyways, I think that 2200-2400 should be good enough for the ivys.

How many times must I say this? NO SPECIFIC SCORE GETS YOU INTO THE IVIES!!! Once you get into the 1400+ range, it's pretty much all gravy and comes down to EC's, grades, recs, interviews, essays, etc.

yea definitely, thats what i think at least

I agree with you both but i think they mean what score do you need to be competitive....which would still only be 1400 like you said =)
