Before the SAT changes, ivy leagues high end SAT scores (above 2100). Now that the SAT will be scored out of 1600, what do you think the new “ivy league standard” score will be?
1500+?
*I know you can get into an ivy league without 2100+.

Nearly all of the most competitive schools (aside from CalTech) look at scores and grades as one of many indicators. There are tons of students with near perfect scores and grades. The most competitive schools look for actual achievements and for evidence that a student with strong aptitude is fueled by interest in the world not by gaming and beating out peers for A’s and 800’s. .The schools look for true achievements and for indicators that students with the highest aptitude are also self motivated to pursue meaningful goals rather than being motivated to get top grades and scores or motivated to simply craft the perfect college application. The reason for this is that the (grades/scores) game stops once students leave school. Top schools want their graduates to be those who continue to want to change the world after grades and scores become meaningless.
2100 can be converted to roughly 1400. The Ivy League standard will probably be higher than that but it will probably be around there depending on how colleges compare the two versions of SAT’s
cool. Thanks!
So, I can expect my SAT score of the old sat 1330/1600, be in perhaps still have a chance to an Ivy? Or does that only apply to the new one?
The SAT of 2100 isnt a bad score but it isnt good enough to make you better than other applicants. If you cant increase your SAT, I strongly advise you to have some kinds of ECs or volunteer work. Best of luck.
2100 = 1400, easy ratio problem. You want to have the SATs, but Ivies are probably more interested in all A’s in rigorous course work, AP and SAT II exams, academic competitions and so on.
The College Board will supply colleges with concordance tables in May that will relate old and new SAT scores. 1400 on the new SAT probably does not = 2100 on the old SAT.
I heard presentations from more that one college stating that they will probably not know how to judge the results of the new SAT until fall. They may decide to put less weight on SAT scores for a few years for example.
Thanks for everyone’s input!
Does it matter if I only take one standardized test? If I ONLY take the ACT, will colleges really care? Should I take both to be safe?
@nicknick567 I wouldn’t recommend taking both the SAT and the ACT unless you REALLY bomb one multiple times.
Put all your effort into studying for one of the tests.
