New "Scholars in the Nation's Service Program" modeled on Rhodes & Marshall Programs

Princeton has just announced the creation of a new six year program modeled after the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships. This highly selective program in public policy (with a focus on international affairs) will take Princeton Juniors through a special international affairs course of study at the Woodrow Wilson School, followed by placement in a prominent summer internship within the federal government then a return to Princeton to complete the undergraduate degree requirements. Following graduation, each Scholar will be placed in a two year federal government policymaking job and will then return to Princeton to complete a master's degree at the Wilson School.

The initiative is designed "to encourage more of the nation's best and brightest students to pursue careers in the U.S. federal government, especially in the international relations arena."

Just speculation here, do you or anyone else think this program is in response to the law suit on the use of endowment funds?

I don't think so. I had heard of this specific plan quite some time ago and there has been talk about something like this for years. It might be that the lawsuit encouraged them to announce it earlier than they might have.
