New student reception-What is it?

I got the invitation via e-mail and am planning on going, but im not sure what to expect
What do we actually do there?

All responses are greatly appreciated!

It’s an orientation session. Very well run, by the way.

Are you talking about the New Student Conferences? If you are, be warned that as well as they may be run, they’re even that much more boring. Lots of talks about stuff that should be common sense and lots of talks about useless crap that you really don’t have to go to. And then like an hour of advising and registration (the only significant event) mixed in with all that.

the new student reception is different than new student confrence

Really? I’ve never heard of that then

There was a reception that was part of the New Student Conference, but I don’t remember it having a separate invitation. Perhaps this is a new thing…

New Student Reception was a separate invitation. I was for the entire class of '13 - but the invitations only went to freshmen in Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Brazos County. The rest of us were left off the invitation list.
