New Tool Helps Simplify Merit Aid Search

Seeking merit aid for college? A new, free platform aims to make that search easier. https://insights.collegeconfidential.com/new-tool-helps-simplify-merit-aid-search

While this may be a start, helping students find schools with merit, it’s got shortcomings. I looked at two of my state schools that I knew offered excellent automatic merit. When I plugged in the numbers, the output included much lower amounts than the actual automatic scholarships at the ACT/GPA combination entered. I encourage students to research scholarships directly on the school website for any school that interests them. They may find that certain schools have much better guaranteed merit than the tool might lead them to believe.

Nothing that was on offer last year or even this year will necessarily be on offer next year, I don’t know when this was created but many schools will not have the available money for merit incentives. Any publics that appear on this list needs to be double checked at time of application. I would expect that many schools that padded out their student body with paid for stats will not need to in the future.
