Automatic Merit Scholarships

I'm curious about scholarships that are automatic if you reach a certain benchmark GPA and ACT/SAT score. Like, if you have a 4.0 and a 32+ ACT, you receive full tuition. I've seen scholarships like this on University of Alabama and South Florida's websites.. Is it really AUTOMATIC or are these just requirements you must meet to be in the running for these scholarships? Also, what other schools have things like this?

Many schools have these kind of programs. Probably half of the colleges around the country. I don’t know of any guide to help identify these programs. You’ll likely have to check each individual school.

google SAT 2310 or whatever yours is. Do the advanced search and include only sites that end with .edu

Far as I know they are automatic.

Fore example, Delaware Valley College has a calculator: [Delaware Valley College | Financial Aid Merit Calculator](http://delval.edu/services/finaid/calcu.php)

Niagara University also has a calculator: [Niagara University](http://www.niagara.edu/admissions/calculator.htm)

Yes, if your stats qualify you for an “automatic” stats-based scholarship, then you will get the scholarship… as long as you apply, get admitted, and receive/accept the award before the college’s money runs out. They can’t just print the stuff, so it’s in your best interest to apply early (not Early Decision – just early in the season, as in September or October) to any college that’s likely to give you an automatic scholarship.

^^Be sure to listen to geek_mom’s advice. If the school has already given out all of the available money, you won’t get anything – regardless of whether or not you meet the eligibility requirements.

Alright guys, thanks for the advice/info! Anyone know of any other schools that have these? I tried looking in the sticky threads, but most of those scholarships appeared to need applications and all of that, and weren’t automatic. Is there a list somewhere of the automatic ones?

I’ve never seen a list like that either, though many colleges my D looked at offered them. Guess you’ll have to create your own! Google merit scholarship + GPA + SAT +.edu and you’ll get some quick results.

Old site and not full ride but are guaranteed - http://www.guaranteed-/
Google “automatic scholarships” and you will also get the individual scholarships

Bumping this up to see if anyone has run into anymore of these?
