New Year, New Look for College Confidential!

Points equal the sum of how many of your posts were “like”'ed and how many were marked as “helpful”.

There’s also a “promote” which is probably included in the total, but I don’t know where that is, I haven’t seen it anywhere yet.

The point is to boost one’s ego lol. (And I enjoy them!)

Is there a way to switch to desktop site on the mobile site? I’ve never seen a mobile site where you can’t go to desktop view but I can’t figure it out on here.

OK…I have another issue. If one has a number of PMs with another poster, the conversation gets VERY long. Whenever that person responds to a PM, the WHOLE list of PMs comes up (like on FB messages, which is also annoying…wish those could be deleted too). Is there any way to get most recent to come up first? Or (please) to delete messages once they have been read?

Thank you for the explanation of the points. Now I can say…I think that is a waste of time!

We used to be able to sort by date, views, or posts. Will that feature be available again? Let me rephrase … could we please have that feature available again?

Ok one problem in this look
can’t go to older posts; I mean just 100 pages back?
I’m looking for older threads! why is this happening?
and what about sorting topics by date?

Increase the number of pages from 100 to 250 doesn’t help!
you need to get it like it was before!

I often browse the board without logging in. Sometimes, while I’m doing this, I find a post that I want to reply to.

In the good old days, I could log in and reply right away. But now, when I log in, I’m taken back to the main forum page, and I have to navigate my way back to the thread I was browsing, where by that time the conversation may have drifted in a different direction.

I find it hard to consider this an improvement. :frowning:

@satacer2 We do hear your concern and did increase the max number of pages from 100 to 250. We will be including a link to the advanced search to find posts older than this limit as a temporary fix. You can use the advanced search to return threads within a date range to find old posts and you can search with any type of context you like.

We will be reviewing solutions to give easier access to historical data. Thank you for your feedback.

Issue resolved today:

  1. Removed the extra user title from under user images in posts.
  2. Increased category history from 100 pages to 250 pages.

Added history is not useful if you can’t link to specific posts. Every specific post link from before the conversion is now lost – you get dumped to the last page of the thread. And many of the most useful threads, rife with information, contain hundreds of posts.

Oh hey, I just found something I legitimately like about the new system. Apparently you can block people you couldn’t before. I like this

(And I’m sure it will be fixed shortly… before the things that actually need to be fixed.)

romanigypsy–I think you could block people before. I feel like I did once…

Another bug–I have preferences checked so I should get emails when someone comments on threads I have bookmarked. That doesn’t happen, ever.

^ Is your email address correct? I get bombarded with emails.

Mom, there were certain people you couldn’t block before. That seems temporarily gone.

notrich–That was it. I signed up for my new account with an email I rarely check, because CC wouldn’t let me sign in to my old account. I’m just messed up and should really stop taking up space on this forum…

Thank you for all your hard work in making this site beautiful and I really like a lot of the changes (especially with the PMs!). My biggest issue, though, is that we can no longer see the dates and times on old posts. It was a really great feature to see when candidates from previous years received word from colleges and programs, and has helped me a lot throughout this process to see when I should be expecting notifications. Now we just see the month, which is extremely unhelpful and a bane for future applicants, especially for special programs. Can you please take this into consideration for future updates? Thanks!

It’s a little inconvenient, but if you hover the mouse over the date in a post, a popup with the full date and time will appear.

It would be better to display the date of each message in mm/dd/yyyy format.
