Agree with Midhelper. I was patient at first, but it has been over a month now…and you still don’t have a way to see if there are new responses/threads under a college without manually going to that college’s forum and clicking on it. I just don’t see where something as simple as adding a “most recent” column to one of the particular forums (ie, Top CC Universities) would be that hard to do. There is already columns listed…but they tell you how many threads are in the colleges sub-forum–which is not helpful at all when trying to determine if there are new posts.
I was patient at first, but as someone that does webpage work occassionally–this shouldn’t be that hard to fix (even if you are working with a third party). Unfortunately, it is making CC less and less useful–which is unfortunate because it can be such a great tool!
Since you have to be a registered user to post in the forums, what is the point of putting “Registered User” under every user? There are no other kinds of users here.
Find my self only looking at my own bookmarks. I use to look at other forums and see if I had input but it is a pain now and I never feel that I actually know where I am on a forum. Has made my life on CC much smaller and much shorter per day.
Exactly. And I think there are many like us. Hey, CC – less time spent = fewer page views = less revenue for you. I also used to do a lot of reading via the mobile app. I wonder if CC realizes that supposedly it takes 21 days to establish a new habit (or break an old one). People who have given up on CC or greatly reduced their use of the site may never return to their previous CC habits. I wonder how many volunteer mods have quit?
Arrrrrgggghhhh!!! I have forgotten how to get to the screen where you can select a college from the alphabetical list. Every time I hit the home button I get logged out!! Please give us quicker access to these subforums! I can’t find them and searches keep getting hits in all sorts of order by date. Why do 2006 posts come up as first hits compared to 2013 posts? dang.
From the home page, click the “College Discussion” tab, scroll down, you will see “Colleges and Universities”, and right under that is “subtopics: Alphabetical List of Colleges”. Click on that.
The stupid draft mode has started doing this fun little thing on my phone where in place of the NORMAL obnoxious pop-up, I’m now getting an error message pop up that is so big that I can’t type at ALL.
And heaven forbid if I try to post on the desktop site while it’s saving- it won’t let me post until it’s done saving its draft.
Thumper, as far as I can tell, the mods have checked out, along with the admins, the tech people who were popping in and out the first week, and the Super mods. I say as far as I can tell, because they never set up a central thread and I refuse to search for them in all the various threads where they’ve made random brief appearances before vanishing once more. Really really sucky customer service, CC.
@OHMomof2 - I use Firefox and an add-on called Customize Your Web. I’ve squeezed out a lot space in the vertical direction, made it fill the space in the horizontal direction, changed some of the colors, and hid the avatars and user role.
It makes for a much more compact view, and a more pleasant viewing experience IMO.
