Lol now the only two compliments I’ve seen have been from 1 post posters
So now it seems like all messages are suddenly public! Yikes!
It’s just the messages that were already public. The “wall” messages. No worries
They do seem “more public” now. I think I had to go to someone’s “wall” to see them before. Now they are scrolling along in Activity for everyone to see. PMs are still private (we just tested that to see). Although I am not getting my email notifications for new inmail, and my profile is set that I should… presume that will get sorted soon.
Are subscribed threads still available? I can’t find them!
I am having difficulty navigating, so I may be saying ‘adios’ to CC for a spell. It’s overwhelmingly different, that’s for sure. I know websites have got to change, but… … I bet the kids are having no issues at all adapting to the new look and system. It has been an enjoyable few years, and I’ve enjoyed interacting with students/parents. Adieu. Adios. Bye. Update: Okay. Took a minute or two to figure out how to edit, and I can’t find out how to log out of CC anymore. Where did the log off site go? …
Re the “new look”. I liked seeing the exact dates of when messages were posted-rather than just the month and year- is that coming back?
I have lost the “jump to unread posts button”. Is it hiding?
First of all, Romani, come on…cut us some slack You do seem to be adapting quite nicely, however.
The visitor messages we had in the previous platform are what you are seeing, not the private messages. As intparent said earlier, you did have to visit a person’s profile to access them, whereas now they are a bit more public. We may be looking into some settings around this so people can choose not to allow the whole community to see them (which we did have on the previous site).
You can subscribe to threads now by clicking the star to favorite them. Then, when viewing your user profile, you can see activity on those in the notifications link on the left side.
As for time stamping, we are looking to replicate what we had in the previous format (i.e. including exact time as well).
@lawrencemom…we hope you won’t leave out of frustration as we are confident you will learn to like the new navigation and features. Granted, there are tweaks left to be made, and we will be doing so in the coming weeks. Hopefully, you are still able to find value in the information being posted on the new site as well.
I can’t tell which posts I have read and which ones I haven’t, I wish there were a way to opt out back into the old layout (which is what the last layout updated provided – and I used).
how do you make the font larger? it’s so tiny now.
I see count of how many unread messages there are in a thread but it isn’t clickable…why not? Are we really going to have to fish through long threads to figure out which posts we’ve read and which we haven’t???
Darn !! sorry…the new look leaves a LOT to be desired !! I agree…this will make me post less and “unhook” from CC…why …why? i get it …it is about revenue but this isn’t even user friendly…
When you have previously read a thread, it will list how many posts are new to you in that thread. Once you click the thread title it should automatically remember where you left off and jump there.
It actually doesn’t, but I did find the function - if I click the time of the latest post under the last post member’s name, it jumps to the first unread (rather than the last post). So…YAY and thank you! I have wanted a way to jump with one click to the last unread post forever.
PS: It would still be nice to be able to “subscribe” to a forum or subforum again, rather than only threads.
OK, I’ll try this to find the “edit post” function. And the quote function:
I love technology, I really do, and it makes me feel so OLD to say this, but I do understand the people who abandon ship - why bother learning a new version when there’ll be a new new one soon? And then a newer new one…with different bells and whistles, not really improvements. If Sherlock Holmes is right about having only so much room in your head for new information, I’m going to run out in about…now!
Oh, well, I AM old.
Yes, I see the sprocket-thingy. Thanks!
The one thing I’ve noticed that the hometown feature is gone. It’s nice to know the area in which people live. I don;t even see a way to edit/add it the profile.
I am sure this redesign has been in development for months, but visually I have some of the same problems with it that I have with the iOS7 on my iPhone. The font is WAY too small and light for many of us in the parental demographic. I am also having a hard time seeing the threads I have posted in recently. I must be doing something wrong.
You can enlarge the font…in Firefox it’s View>Zoom>Zoom In.
