New Year, New Look for College Confidential!

Just went back to Whitman forum and made a new thread, it disappeared into the vast CC ether. We like Whitman, can you please help us out?

In the Musical Theater Major/Musical Theater Schools sub-topic, clicking on Carnegie Mellon University produces the message “This webpage has a redirect loop” – please fix this!

Bopambo - Same thing with the Wesleyan forum. Bumping “old” threads (like, from two weeks ago) does no good. I any college with an unused, phantom forum apparently had that forum switched when things got updated.

Too much white space. Hard to see boundaries. Newest posts at bottom instead of top. Names of posters not as visible. Hard to tell where to click to see newest posts. No yellow “light” to show where there are new posts. The only thing I really like is the “like” button.

I’m with you twinsmama!

Previously I could click on a Forum area (“CC Top Universities” or “Alphabetical List of Colleges”) & there would be yellow highlights for specific school threads that have new posts since my last visit. I am not seeing this very useful feature now…what up?

Doesn’t exist anymore, bigdad. Our beloved yellow dots & red stars are gone.

Do you know if they are planning to bring them back? Why make the site less functional?

I really miss the ability to bookmark a forum/subforum (as for a specific college) and have it appear on my control panel/landing page.

The following items were resolved today:

  1. []Flagging a post is fixed.
[]Pre Med subcategories are now available: <a href=“Pre-Med & Medical School - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-medical-school/</a>

Is there any word on the theme of the forum? That’s is widely common issue.

@dbraud Please add a “mark all as read” option somewhere. If one already exists, I can’t find it.

I still seriously dislike the change and find it painful to use.

Thanks for the update, dbraud!!!

Can no longer access on chrome. I liked the old format better. It was much easier to read and also to follow threads.

The new design lost the ability to see which threads had updated since the last time you logged on. The old design had new threads in bold and threads from the last time you logged on in regular type. People will stay on the site a lesser amount of time, giving up looking through threads and forgetting where they last left off. This will cut into your views and therefore your advertising revenue.

I still hate this and the mobile site is still unusable. You can’t even switch it back to desktop mode to pretend to be usable.

Hi! I apologize if this has been requested prior (tried to go through this thread–but it is way to long!), but it would be really helpful if in the “sub forums” (ie, if I click on Colleges and Universities and then click on Top CC Universities),if you would have a column for “most recent” next to the sub-sub forums. (ie if you click on Top CC Universities and you get the list of those colleges, it currently tells me if there is 24K in the thread, and so on, which means nothing to me. If you could add the “most recent” column to the right of each college (and other sub topics in the other forums) it would be really helpful, as you used to have that info. It is cumbersome to have to click on each individual college to see if there is something new. Hope I described this request right. Thanks!

I think there used to be more control over privacy settings for user profile, messsages, etc. and it would be nice to have that back.

The format still works fine in a text-only browser, but I too would like post numbers back.

Is there a list somewhere of the BB codes that are still active? Noparse doesn’t seem to work any more, for example.
