Newbie

Hey everyone,
I'm a newbie here. I've been reading posts for a long time and finally decided to register. I am a Junior in High School, and TOTALLY freaking out about college!
~sunshinegirl

Don't freak out. Avoid the What are My Chances? Forum. Ignore people who post their "stats." Ask questions, there are always helpful people online and you're pretty much guaranteed to get a response in a day, max. Have any idea of post-high-school life plans?

welcome

what s/he said.^

remember that people here are crazy. don't believe everything they say, or you'll think you're doomed to being rejected from community college.

remember that a lot of people are really sarcastic. it can be hard to catch sometimes but you get used to it.

Remember that this site is representative of all high school students in the US. The majority of people have 2350+ SATs and 5s on 10 APs, as well as 1000 hours community service. Everyone has won national olympiads and received the congressional medal of honor. Most have been Intel finalists. Also, the median GPA is 4.2.

But besides all that, have fun!

Remember, the minimum GPA here is a 4.0 UW, and the Maximum is 20.0 UW. Most average people are around 9.5 and 12.0 UW. Whats your GPA? :)

while your're at it, avoid GoldShadow too :D

Talk about grade inflation!

I meant on a 4.0 scale on CC. :p

lol, the "introductory" or "I'm new here" threads always turn REALLY sarcastic.

^ haha yea, people warned you that others are sarcastic, I suppose this is the first test... haha

So sunshine, I like to play Minesweeper in my head, and I pass time by reciting the powers of two. I've also proved Santa Claus wrong by the use of Physics. What are your hobbies? :D

Welcome to CC. >=)

haha... and not the powers of three or four... wow... you are degrating you full potential. I reccomend the powers of 53 --- truely enlightening...

btw... yes welcome to CC, though I believe I never quite made a "I am a newbie" thread... whatever...

and yea... if 4.2 is the average gpa... yay! I am above average... haha yay for honors and ap classes...

So hows junior year for you? may I suggest the High School Life forum...

Here, our view of extra credit would be something along these lines:

During your English teacher's lecture, memorize exactly what she says word for word. Now go home, make a chart, accompanied by a 18-page thesis paper on her various grammatical errors, and turn it into her. As a result, your teacher is delighted in that you help him\her become a better oratory speaker, and gives you a few extra points to bring up your final average from a 148 to a 148.027. Either that, or your teacher is mad and doesn't give you anything. Then, your average stays a 148. You are devastated and plunge into a deep state of depression where you seek solace. You know that being able to divide by zero is not good enough for college. You type up "Alternatives of not going to college because of a 148 average" in Google and hence, you are here. :)

^ quite accurate... though I think the extra credit may actually only be worth .026, not .027. other than that, yes... very good!

"I can divide by zero" is actually a fairly common EC. ;)

^i dont get it ???

^ me either haha

what? how do you not get it...you can't divide by zero...so that's like saying "i solve world hunger." you just can't do that ... hence an impossible EC
