Rokypa123,
Here are the exact figures from the freshman profile on the SC website. Last year 35,900 applied for freshman admission.

From remarks by admissions staff the targeted class last year was 2600. All universities offer admission to more students than the size of the class, even the most selective. SC offered admission to 7875. More than the 2600 accepted and 2766 enrolled.

From a recent Bloomberg article many prominent universities are upping their admit rates this year or hiding that by having long waiting lists. With the changing economy there is quite a bit of uncertainty in the admissions offices across the country. Who will come?

SC has become more and more selective. Test scores, GPAs, faculty awards, fellowships, national research grants, alumni donations, NMScholars attending, Fulbrights have all risen at a high rate. It is a Tier I university.

The fact is after April 1st there will be over 27,000+ seniors who will not receive a letter of acceptance to SC.

Ya. Think about what you're saying. If only 2,600 were chosen, that would equal an acceptance rate of around 7%, making USC the most selective school in the country.

nagooya's right, not all 8,000 applicants choose to go to USC. The 2,300 is just an estimate at how many students will be matriculating in the fall.

I just checked my status...it says the Admissions Committee has made a decision, and it was last updated 3/11. Seriously, I feel like freezing myself until April 1!

does the date of your last application update have anything to do w/ acceptance/rejection?? mine hasn't been updated since i applied, back in dec...

I think to some extent it does but some people who posted in other threads said there dates hadnt been changed from earlier so can still be accepted even if you status isnt updated
