Next Year's APs

I'm taking AP Physics C, AP AB Calc, AP Gov, AP Enlgish literature (and I thought my course load was hard). Seriously though, my school is ranked like 6th in the country for Ivy admission (amoung publics) and having 5 APs at graduation, while not rare, is uncommon. My school seriously restricts AP admission, some subjects requiring exams, others requiring teacher recomendations. In fact that top 200 high schools list or whatever nailed my school down in the 200's because the guy who designed it was angry that his son, who attended or attends my school, didn't get admitted to an AP science class. The average AP score at my school is well into the high 3's and for most classes at least a 4 is expected.

I also thought I was loading up on APs, but I guess not compared to others here at CC...
Anyways, here I go with my AP schedule:
AP Statistics (I already took Calc BC this yr :))
AP Physics C
AP English Lit
AP Art History
AP Art (well, i guess it's not really an "AP" class lol)

Dmct, the guy who named the top 200 high schools used a formula, he didn't just randomly select schools. If what you say is true, then yea you'd be down in the 200s because the avg senior has less than 2 or 3 APs by graduation. The ranking only checks APs total in the school/graduating senior. BTW, my school requires an entrance exam for every AP class, and there are few classes where the avg isn't above 4. What ranking put you guys at 6th in the country?

The Newsweek ranking of schools was ridiculous. Now schools just load up on APs to get into the magazine's rankings, even though the quality of the actual classes is not going to be very high. All that ranking does is make schools push students to sign up for AP exams, and not actually compel them to improve their educational methods. You also have to understand that it is a company that designs the AP curriculums; I wouldn't be surprised if Newsweek had some business affiliation or something with the AP Company in order to promote its curriculums.

I know I'm stereotyping here, but I know for a FACT that the #1 high school in America is NOT located in Alabama.

AP Stat
AP Language
AP US
AP Calc (unsure in order to take AB or BC)
AP Chem
AP Phys
And most likely,
self-study AP Envi. Science.

AP European History
AP Biology
AP French Language

AP English Lit
AP Euro
AP Government
AP Economics
AP Italian (first time this is offered!)
AP Bio
AP Calc AB

AP Calc BC
AP Italian
AP Phsyics C
AP English Lit
AP Music Theory (maybe) - its at the same time as ap calc ... what do u do about that?

AP Lit
AP Stat
AP Calc
AP Physics

self-study is for crazies
As for what to do about two classes being the same period... If you have enough periods in the day, and the teacher that teaches Music theory has a different class during one of your available periods, ask them if you can sit in the back and do Music Theory. That's what Im doing with Stat.. Im sitting in on an Analysis class and then a Coll. Alg class

Is it a good idea to self study physics?? (or take a online course anyway?)
btw, if you guys do self study, you will buy the text book or only test prep book or what?
just a little bit curious about it
i hope i can at least get
ap bio
ap chem
ap cal ab(but i will self study cal bc and see if i can handel the exam :P)
ap us history
and do the self study for
ap world his
ap eup his
ap physics
i am taking these classes for my junior year but since i am transfering to another school, i don't know if my new counselor will be so kind to give me the classes ??? the school i m going to ranked pretty high by newsweek and now they are just looking down on other schools.....

no i dont mean the same period ... i mean the ap exams are at the same time

ohhhhh...

They can give you an alternate time to take the test. Im not sure how you would check into that, probably through your guidance counselor.

AP Lit
AP Cal BC
AP Gov
AP Macro/Micro Econ
AP Bio

Some of you are insane; yall are taking more APs than the amount of classes I take in total.

my senior schedule will unfortunately be packed with IB classes (gotta do those damn HL's), so i'm going to self-study the following:

macro econ
micro econ
US govt
Comp govt
Art hist
world hist
studio art

AP Bio
AP Macro Econ
AP Calc BC
AP Spanish
AP English Lit

my school doesn't offer APs..so none :(

you could ask a nearby school to administer them for you. but you would have to self-study or take online classes

I'm going easy on myself next year; I want to have fun as a senior. This year I took AP spanish and AP music theory. Next year, I'm taking AP Chem, AP English, and AP Gov, and two band classes and maybe two choir classes and a free period! :)

that's actually what im looking into. there's another high school about 15 minutes away that will let me do history, math, and science

AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP US History

damn.. they cancelled AP English Lang and Comp!
