I have a question actually. Does 4 years of a language really counts a lot when I apply to competitive colleges? Because I am dying in Spanish and my counselor wants me to stay.

Question: Does a period of T.A. (aka, helping the teacher by correcting papers, whatever) look bad to colleges? I've had a few teachers that were so amazing to me I just can't help but wonder if maybe I should T.A. for them as a way to say thanks, but I don't know if colleges will think I'm a slacker.

BTW, I'll be a senior.

Does that go on your transcipt? At my school, TA is kind of like study hall and isn't put on the transcript or recorded anywhere. If it's not on the transcript it won't make any difference.

I think it does...Assuming it is on my transcript, is taking a period of T.A. bad?

BUMP! Please answer.....:)

Well, it's worse than taking a real class I would imagine. Are you taking it because nothing substantial will fit or because you don't want a class? If it's because of the former don't worry about it and if it's due to the latter, rethink and if you don't want to take a class, don't take a class. A TA won't look as good as a class, I would think.

AP Euro Hist
Honors Eng IV/AP English Comp (HEIV is a prereq, block system)
Honors Bio II/AP Biology (HBII is a prereq, block system)
probably Calculus III (community college)
Honors Spanish IV
Honors Chem II

After taking AP Calc BC, AP Physics, and APUSH this year, by next year I will have taken all the "hard" classes at my school. We don't have many APs.

Hmm...I dunno, we don't start scheduling for another month/month in a half.

I'm so upset - I'm a history queen, and for some reason didn't take AP am. history this year (didn't feel like doing summer work, haha), but they're giving AP Euro History for next years juniors - SOOOO ticked off. They also get like, medievel europe and stuff - what I'd LOVE to do since euro history is so much more interesting to me than american. And I hate the AP Gov't teacher, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to slide normal gov't and do AP euro even though I took euro as a sophmore. They also have AP World History now for the upcoming sophmores...I would've loved to do that. Sooo upset. Now the school is bringing in more AP tests to areas that I rock at rather than all math/science APs. haha. but proposed schedule next year:

AP English IV - full year (if not AP, than honors (half year), I'm thinking AP since the teacher is my honors sophmore teacher and my "second mother" as she's deemed herself)
Pre-Calc - full year(not sure, we don't have to take math next year, but mayhaps...)
Comparative Religion - semester
Gov't - semester or AP Gov't - full year...not sure...any thoughts on AP gov't?
mayhaps AP Euro - full year
Digital Design - semester
Prep. for College Life - semester
Personal Finances - semester

I'll know more when we get our class selection list. Definitely no science next year - WOOT!

i plan to take:

an intern with a vet
honors english 12
physic I
Chem AP --that is, if they offer it
econ/gov't honors
some elective, not sure yet

you prob noticed the blaring lack of calc AP...that bc i'm not sure it's worth it to me to take it. I've heard that most colleges require freshman to retake it anyway, so i figured i'd save my mom the money and just study it at home. Plus, the college i go to won't see what i get on my ap exam, and wouldn't i score more brownie points by taking the initiative to study at home? Someone please help me!

If I were you I wouldn't listen to the "I heard most colleges require freshmen to retake it anyway" and just go check the websites of the colleges you will apply to. Most I've seen will accept scores of 4 or 5. And what money would you save by not taking it? The exam fee? That is way less than what it would cost if you took it during college.

assuming there are no scheduling conflicts, senior year schedule will be as follows:

AP Physics C
AP Calculus AB
AP Music Theory
AP Art History
College English
Public Affairs (Graduation Requrement)
AP Economics
Lunch (Only because seniors are allowed to go out for lunch)
Parenting Education (Graduation requrement, thanks to the skyrocketing amount of underclassmen who are getting knocked up)

Wind Ensemble

AP Calculus BC (block)
AP Statistics and Probability
AP U.S. Government and Politics
Senior High Band
College-Prep English 12
Physics I
Full-year study hall

I'm still debating AP Stats, but the topic looks interesting, and I hear it is essential if you plan on majoring in science.

do the colleges think it's bad to take easier courses like stats?

i know it's very good and essential, but isn't it a reality that the colleges see them as an "easy way out"?

I plan to take. Oh. Right. I'm a senior.

Sr year
AP Spanish
AP Calc AB
AP Eng Lit
AP Enviro
AP Govt
