Specifically Saquon Barkley more than the Giants. It’s that Fantasy thing. He’s my first round pick (#11). I root for players ( I have), not teams ….anymore.
Oh
For a moment I thought we had a Giants fan in Tennessee
Ever since I had to read Paper Lion for 9th grade summer reading back in the day, I’ve had a soft spot for the Lions. As soon as you hired Matt Patricia as your HC I knew there would be trouble. Heck, we in NE thought he was only adequate as a defensive coordinator. Then we took him back last year as co-offensive coordinator (mostly because Belichik was OK with getting him for free–Lions paid his salary).
Thankfully we moved on and got an actual offensive coordinator. But development of our young QB is now a year delayed. Here in NE, there are chinks in the armor regarding the “In Bill We Trust” mantra.
I’ve always been a Pats fan. It will be interesting to see how “new”(born after 1990) Pats fans will deal with the trough that always follows a wave.
Before I retired I would tell my students how spoiled they were—during most of my life, the Patriots were so BAD for so LONG. I also lived through the Curse of the Bambino with the Red Sox, which my students avoided and in fact had several WS championships.
As a life long New Englander the Red Sox were number 1 and thought to be #1 forever. The Patriots very quickly put an end to that and pro football became #1 in NE, like the rest of the country. Even with a mediocre team, the Patriots draw much more attendance than the Sox nowadays.
My boys were born in 2000 and 2003. They know nothing but winning, and championships, across all Boston/New England sports. It’s been a great run.
I got the worst sunburn of my life at the 1986 Celtics championship celebration in Government Center. I called my mom from a payphone in the high school lobby and had her dismiss me. I walked the 2 miles to the nearest T station and rode the Red Line into Park Street. I bought a Larry Bird jersey from a vender and got scorched. I loved every minute of it, and wore that sunburn like a badge of honor.
Those Government Center rallies were lots of fun–the speeches, etc.
They got eliminated in 2004 when the Red Sox FINALLY broke the curse. Officials figured the almost 1 million spectators would never fit in Government Center or any other space, so they went to the duck boat parades, which allowed more people to see the team(s).
Great, except the duck boat parades have totally replaced the Government Center rallies. You get to see your heroes for a few seconds as their duck boat drives by, that’s it.
The moment the Pats won their first Super Bowl my company fired up the RV and parked it withing viewing distance of Government Center. We had our own bathroom, and a place to shelter from the brutal cold that day. We all stood on the roof for the rally.
28.5% of the people in my survivor pool are gone after one week. 443 more people I need to lose.
I am not believing this is the real world the way my Cowboys played last night.
Tom Brady should have suited up for the last 2 minutes of the Patriots game.
The Giants, Steelers, and Bengals did not do so well… how did the certain people do?
Yeah. To put it mildly
I’ll be 11th or 12th in points out of 12. . Jalen Hurts hurt me.
Ty Lockett hurt me.
I’m up by 18 but he has Aaron Rodgers and Stefan Diggs. Unless both catch the chicken pox, I’m a goner.
Did the Titans beat the Saints ? Have no idea. Saw the Giants debacle though. Thanks Saquan. Just glad he didn’t get hurt.
I too say, “Go Chiefs!” I’m headed back to KC to see them play the Chargers and have good seats. WOOT!
That said, I like Jared Goff, mainly because he’s really Ryan Gosling. He was great in La La Land.
I totally understand.
My kids were born in those years as well. And they’ve only known professional championships as well, with the baseball Giants winning in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
And the GS Warriors winning in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
Now hopefully the 49ers are built for a 6th Super Bowl.
Bay Area 49ers fan. Just gotta’ hope QB Purdy stays healthy.
I’m also a big Jimmy G fan, so even though I’ve never liked the Raiders (even when they were here in the Bay Area), I’m half-hoping they do well this year. Just not as well as the 49ers.
Anyone want to buy the Chicago Bears? Can’t express to you how disappointed I am and many, many fans are today.
Looks like I will have to go back and root for the Lions. I grew up in Detroit…
No way! You need many more years of misery as a Bears fan to catch up to the sad sack Lions!
Besides after one game, the Lions can still be the Lions! Lots of time left for this to go sideways
