Hey is anyone here going to NFL nationals in Birmingham? What event are you doing?

Hey! I’m going for Policy.

I qualed in LD…idk if I’m gonna go though.
Have you noticed how expensive plane tickets are to there?! Ugh :P

LOL National Forensics Tournament…not the football thing XD
hehe. we’re debate nerds :P

I know someone going. Does that count?

I dropped debate this year. Too many annoying people that I wanted to strangle.

I got killed in my nat quals region but I do know the 2 LD qualifiers from Oregon and 1 team from Oregon that is going in CX. What event are you doing?

haha i should have specified debate not football…sorry!

I’m going in congress. luckily my school pays for the airplane ticket and the hotel

I qualified for the third time this year…but I can’t go due to lack of funding. Bummer, huh? Out of curiosity, did any of you do Vegas? Now THAT was a blast.

yea i went to vegas last year. that was so fun! idk what we’re going to do in birmingham lol

aww i was so close to qualifying for nat’ls in extemp speaking but i didn’t make it this year. But next year i will be there.

Foreign or domestic?

Ugh. SOO ****ed about Nats. I’m an extemper, but one of my PF friends asked me to be his partner for districts. My coach said okay, b/c he’d get sweepstakes points. I ended up in qual finals for both, and tried to lose in PFD. UGH.

Double qualified. Accidentally. ■■■.
I couldn’t go in IX b/c the partner event is pref-ed first. Ima pay $350 to get raped. Cheers!
I guess I have 2 more years though.

Do any of you guys compete on the national scene?
What tourneys will you go to next year?

Most people don’t go to win, you go for the experience. And in any case, Extemp gets old real fast. After a while you start to lose that spark in your speeches, you know? It’s that bit of actual personality that isn’t programmed into you after winning and competing in countless rounds. Once that’s gone you simply follow a formula, every single time. Once enough rounds go by you even lose that adrenaline rush from crunching out a good speech in 12 minutes flat. At least, that’s how it was for me. I just felt consumed by this awful feeling of gray drudgery and absolute foreboding for round after round. You know, I even vanquished my ultimate rival in extemp last year, and it still didn’t matter. I got no thrill and no excitement from it. It just happened. After three years I’m done, I’ll be looking at OO or something for Senior year.

Not to say that it’s bad, enjoy it while it lasts. Then move on.

See all you OO’ers at Alabama!

Birmingham seems fun…ish. Definitely won’t top Vegas, though. Let’s hope we all break!

I’m a PFer from PA (reigning second place team at STATE)
Vegas was sooooo amazing
Can’t wait for Alabama…
My school’s paying for everything…:)

@lantzk: domestic. Its a lot easier but it is not as interesting as foreign.

do you guys hit TOC/nat circuit tournaments or do you normally stay in state?

I’ll be going in oratory, 12 days.

To dirdir, I actually think Birmingham will beat Vegas. Vegas was overhyped and everything. But to each their own…

I qual’d for NCFL nats (3rd year in a row), however I cant go cause of funding…

But I plan on going to NFL Nats in Policy next year, though its gona be tough, my district always gets closed out by Bellaire High School
