Nicest Apartments within WALKING DISTANCE of campus

Does anyone know what they are? The nicest and newest apartments (not dorms) surrounding campus that would be walking/biking distance? A list of them would be appreciated.

West Campus and Hyde Park areas are within walking distance. The best place to find an apartment is by using craigslist.com. Just type in "west campus" and/or "hyde park" in the search bar, and you'll find a lot of apartment postings.

You have a lot of choices. I can tell you about some but there are so many that I don't know them all.

University Towers is a good apartment/dorm (<a href="http://www.aoinc.com/proppages/?property=46)%5B/url%5D">http://www.aoinc.com/proppages/?property=46)</a>, as is Dobie and Castilian. For a non-dorm apartment, I like the Villa apartments (there are several - Villa San Gabriel, Villa Guadalupe, Villa Nueces) and the new Quarters apartments (also several - Quarters at Cameron House, at Montgomery House, and at Sterling House - website here: <a href="http://www.quartersoncampus.com/default-flash.asp)%5B/url%5D">http://www.quartersoncampus.com/default-flash.asp)</a>. The Quarters apartments are new, opening in August 2006. There are also many nice condos and townhomes for lease in the West Campus area and some North of the campus in Hyde Park. A good condo can be nicer than an apartment but they are hard to find.

Like you, our family prefers something within walking distance but the shuttle system makes it easy to get to campus even if you live several blocks or miles away. That opens up the possibility of hundreds or even thousands of apartment complexes and condos. However, if it will be your first year at UT, I suggest that you live closer to campus until you find an area that appeals to you.
