nics!

okay so all i hear about is westco, clark/fauver, and the butts. what's up with the nics? somebody lay down some knowledge. i know nothing, good or bad, about them, and would love to know more.

the nics are absolutely the most underrated dorm. i lived there this year as a freshman and loved it. the nics are right next to fauver atop foss hill, a very convenient location (even though the trek up from usdan after a big meal can seem daunting/agonizing, haha). for starters, there are four nics: 5, 5.5, 6, and 7. they’re all connected, though 7 is slightly less convenient to get to (not by much though). it’s mostly two-room doubles with some singles, and some of the nics have one-room doubles. it all depends on which “nic” you get. housing is mixed, so there are mostly freshmen and sophomores (though some of the halls are all freshmen). while i didn’t interact with all of the upperclassmen, i definitely became very friendly with and hung out with some of them, which was really nice. it’s pretty quiet, but i liked it better that way…and it’s certainly not like everyone kept to themselves. i had an amazing friend group from my hall, and all of the nics seemed to have very cohesive communities. the facilities aren’t as nice as clark’s or fauver’s, but i didn’t mind. oh, and many of the rooms have balconies, which is definitely a plus. there’s generally one gender-neutral bathroom on each floor with a bunch of stalls, sinks, and showers (though you get to vote on whether the bathrooms are gender-neutral, and the nics contain the all-guys and all-girls floors). oh, and the nic lounge, which is closest to 5.5 and 5, is a big space with a television, some couches and tables, and a kitchen. i’d recommend the nics to anyone.

any other questions? just ask!

I’m sold on nics. It sounds awesome. Is there anyway I can fill out my housing form so that I guarantee that I end up there?
