NIH SIP Thread

I just got my paperwork and I got my offer in like feb

@pharaoh96 @teenagecrime @swiftyfan13x Guys is anyone signed up for the OITE ListServ for NIH SIP participants?
More info about this can be found here https://www.training.nih.gov/listservs

Also the Summer Intern Journal Clubs looks promising.

So I was accepted by a PI but he said he would contact me with more info closer to June. Is the next step where he sends me this paperwork you guys are talking about?

@ohpearl Mhmm I heard there’s a lot so I’m really eager to get it… Plus there’s a bunch of safety courses to complete

So I emailed a bunch of PIs today. I know I’m late… The question is am I too late?

@dropoutofschool Probably not. But you’re just gonna have to send out a lot more emails than the rest of us. Try 50+ (no joke)

Thanks. And yea, I sent like 20 today, I’ll send more tomorrow lol. @swiftyfan13x
Also any advice on how to find PIs? My current strategy is to look through PIs who did it last year, and then based on that research their names.

@dropoutofschool Go for it! Anything can happen.

@IDnurse I’m also in college, but I noticed that too haha. What campus will you be on? @OneMata I am planning on signing up for the listserv once all my paperwork goes through, and I’m definitely going to try to join one of the journal clubs

@jasonk2 I will be on the main campus at the clinical center. What’s your classification and which campus will you be on? I also want to join a journal club! I think it will be a great networking opportunity and just a good experience in general.

Anyone at rtp?

Is anyone at the Baltimore Bayview Center?

Anyone at the NCI frederick campus?

Do any of you guys know how to sign up for journal clubs over the summer?

Hey guys! I just got an email about stipend information from NIH and I’m kinda baffled. I was honestly expecting something around $3000 like NCI at Fort Detrick, but it’s actually a solid $22,900. Is it a typo or is that the real deal?

I would assume a typo. Maybe an extra 0? http://oma1.od.nih.gov/manualchapters/person/2300-320-7/Appendices/Student15.PDF

@Princetonian2020 If you’re talking about the summer internship, theres no way it’s anywhere near that amount. If you’re talking about another NIH program (for example a year long one) then maybe that number is accurate for the whole amount.
