How “personalized” are each of your emails? I have a basic “template” into which I insert a paragraph describing what I have to say about the PI’s work.
@rhythmnhues Yeah my emails were pretty personalized. I only sent like 3-4 emails to PIs. I wrote about why their work interests me. Be sure to emphasize that you are very very passionate.
@pharaoh96 I thought all the summer intern positions were paid…
@onemata actually theres both paid and volunteer positions. Some labs have space but no funding so they take volunteers.
@pharaoh96 Oh true! Hopefully, even for the volunteers, the research experience makes the summer worthwhile
Can someone post another link to the FB group, the URL posted above isn’t working
copy and paste it. There’s a much larger group called ClubPCR that you can join here: Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos
Sent out at least 20 by this point…all replied to say their labs were full or they weren’t taking any
Hey guys! I’ll be in the main campus in Bethesda, if anyone is also looking for housing/roomate please PM me. Thanks!
Hey everyone! I will be on the main campus in Bethesda, and I am working on planning my housing and accommodations for the summer. If anyone wants to talk about plans for the summer, research, or anything else, let me know!
For people who got in,what was the process like after you emailed the professor?
@swiftyfan13x I will PM you
Can you do me the same? @OneMata
@dropoutofschool Sure check your inbox
Is anyone gonna be in research triangle?
^need a roommate BTW and its hard to find someone who will take high schoolers
Is anyone here in college?
@IDnurse Yeah, not sure why this thread is predominetaly high schoolers though since most NIH interns are in college.
I also had a question how long does the paperwork for this take?
@swiftyfan13x after getting the offer from PI it can take about 2 weeks. I guess it could also depend on how quick you fill out the paperwork.
